Self-Image: How You See Yourself Matters

Self, a very mean yet important word in the whole life span of a person. But here we are going to talk about self- actualization. There come stages in the life of a human being where he questions himself, who, why, and where?

At theyouthvibe I am not only giving crucial information or some important talks like personal growth and financial talks and motivation etc. I am here to also talk about the thoughts that are stuck in me that have shaped me better.

I came across these questions when I was very young. Not because I was very responsible and a philosopher type of being but I have had enough experiences that were tough enough to teach me some brutal lessons.

There are three stages of building Self

1-Love

2- Action

3-Thriving for better

Love

The most powerful yet poisonous among all, love can make you mean enough to not to have empathy but to feel proud of what you are and what you have.

On the other hand it makes you humble enough to explore more and more , with spiritual guidance and beautiful experiences.

What is love , it varies from person to person.

For some love can be perfection and food some, love can be selfless.

For some it’s all about ego and arrogance.

For some it’s about thinking about the things that are not seen by the naked eye, feelings , emotions, the giving nature, thinking of the future.

Love nurtures and makes you kinder.

When i was a kid I used to think love is about to like or to have the best among all.

How silly I was…

Now over time I know it is about giving , to care, to be a little more kinder every day you wake up.

Action

It is a single step, a thought that comes to mind for the betterment of your own self. That can not be determined by the size of the step, how small it is, that still counts.

There is no such thing without action that takes place, even the manifestation of success needs the kind of hard work to meet that frequency of success. Life is tough , so you need to be tougher so that life itself looks easy to you.

Whatever you are or want to be, every second that you lived has changed and made you better in terms of love, self and the character within.

Thriving for better.

Living and thriving are different; it is the ultimate work you put in towards your next minute on this planet earth to be a better human being. It is not about the motivation; it is about the consistency that keeps you going.

What is that one urge that keeps you busy towards the future ?

To achieve .

Not in a sense of materialistic stuff but also to achieve inner growth, the development , the peace of knowing that you are working on yourself.

Self Image Matters More Than You Think!

Your self-perception is influenced by your growth and experiences over time. As you develop new friendships, engage in new activities and form new opinions about yourself and your preferences, your self-image changes as well.

Different types of characteristics (for example, being shy vs. outgoing; academic vs. athletic; full of energy vs. easy to be around) make up your self-image. Your self-image also affects how you react and present yourself in different environments.

You Are The Powerhouse!

To know or to understand, who you really are, write down ten descriptors of you. Think about positive terms such as joyful, determined, brave, observant, secure, devoted, sociable, trustworthy, athletic, witty, bright or sympathetic.

Notice how you speak to yourself both verbally and in your head. You might tell yourself (out loud) “I am intelligent and will do this” or “I am an idiot, and that’s why no one likes me.”

Long-held negative beliefs about yourself usually mean you’ll need outside assistance to locate the cause of the belief in order to alter the belief; understanding your negative beliefs will give you a running start toward changing those beliefs.

After identifying a negative belief, you can also question or reframe that belief in order to transform your view of yourself. Whenever you consider a negative attribute about yourself, begin to add a corresponding positive thought. If you are finding it difficult to think positively, remain neutral. If you are about to take a test and have fears of performing poorly on the test, you might think to yourself “I take this test today, it takes 1 hour, then it’s done.”

Think Positive; Live better

I know, it is very hard to think positive about yourself at times. Because you are surrounded by many energies around you. No one is always in an environment where he listens only listen to the good of themselves. It is not about you thinking negatively but the influence of negativity on your mind, that makes you think negative about yourself.

Thinking positively and living better may seem to be soft and fluffy concepts that don’t really lead us anywhere, but in actual fact they are both based on true principles of physics!

Nothing is more frustrating than to find yourself in an emergency situation when someone gives you great advice to “Think Positive!” Do this and you’ll roll your eyes or go nuts trying to chase them down for a good cup of coffee (ie. when you need it).

What if instead of being a way to deny our reality and just the result of someone wanting an excuse to not deal with hard things, positive thinking was actually the intuitive way to help our brains develop new neural pathways to support physical survival?

Here’s the single most important reason that positive thinking helps us live better, not just feel good.

Your Brain is Programmed for Negativity!

Psychologists say this is a “Negativity Bias.” Again, it goes back to how our ancestors were wired – if they heard some noise in the bushes they assumed it was from the less than friendly saber tooth tiger. That assumption allowed them to continue living, even when that noise was probably just the wind and they didn’t get eaten.

If you don’t know to do anything differently now than your ancestors did, the result would be overstepping your bounds in relationships with someone who was simply rude via email rather than recognising that your friends and family have written you 10 great emails and 1 rude email (now you’re only looking for the latter!)

The Solution: You need to retrain your brain! When you spend time “Thinking Positive” you will not be deluded; you’ll have been teaching your brain to look at the bushes for what they are rather than trying to avoid what they aren’t! Sometimes it is just the wind. Sometimes the circumstances will actually support you.

The second concept, the “Glasses” effect, suggests that the way we perceive our surroundings can greatly impact how we function in these environments.

If you wear glasses that say, “Everyone is out to get me,” you can find evidence of this belief everywhere in your surroundings.

However, if you wear glasses that say, “I can handle this,” it changes the way you experience barriers and obstacles from walls to challenges.

Living a better quality of life does not mean that your life will be perfect; rather, it means that you will see the world from a healthier perspective. You can’t make it rain on someone else, but you can choose to dance in the rain or curse the rain.

The Ripple Effect (It’s Contagious)

Have you ever observed that if one person complains in a room, it sucks all the energy out of everybody? Conversely, if you have one person in the space who is calm and shows positive energy, it helps to stabilize the whole room.

Positive Thinking: You solve problems more quickly.

Live Better: People want to connect with you. You draw opportunities to yourself. You sleep much better.

Bottom Line:

Positive-thought patterns aren’t simply putting a six-foot-tall smile on a broken-hearted person. You assume and accept that your heart broke, but it will heal. You’re still able to stand.

Your thought process is one area in your life that no one can touch, so be sure to protect it and nurture it, and see how your outside world starts to reflect your inside world.
